The Willink is a heavily oversubscribed and successful school. Student achievement is high with about 30% achieving A*/A at A Level and over 70% achieving 5+A*-C EM at GCSE. The school was judged to be good with outstanding features by Ofsted in 2014. The Willink is the lead school in the Two Counties Teaching Partnership. It has 1040 students on roll including 190 in the Sixth Form, and is situated in a pleasant semi-rural setting south west of Reading.

Over half of our sixth formers gain places at Russell Group universities, including Oxbridge. The school is proud of its ethos as a Language College and international status; 90% of our students study a foreign language to GCSE standard.

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, motivated and inspirational teacher to the role of Head of Learning. In addition to a teaching commitment of 0.8 FTE, the post holder will be required to lead and ensure the highest possible attainment of a year group of about 180 students. The year group will be decided upon following appointment. This role is supported by a non-teaching Pastoral Support Assistant, a team of tutors, plus specialist intervention staff. We welcome applicants with teaching expertise from across the curriculum. Applicants on Management Allowance 1 & 2 or a fixed term management allowance are eligible to apply for this post.

Support staff Vacancies

The post is 15-20 hours a week term-time only.

Salary Band B (£14,615 - £15,507 FTE).

Required to start as soon as possible, an experienced D&T Technician is needed to support the teaching of a range of Design & Technology subjects up to A level.  The main responsibilities are to assist with the preparation of work shop materials for teaching resources and aids and to keep work shop areas in proper order, clean and tidy with due notice to Health & Safety. The ability to work in a team and a flexible approach are essential.

Co-opted Governors

The governing body is currently advertising for three co-opted governors to join us. Co-opted governors are a recent development for all governing bodies and are different from the parent governor role because they can be recruited from parents or the wider community. This means there will be no election process involved in this recruitment campaign.
